Farm The City London Festival
SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 21ST 2013
MIDDAY ‘TIL 6PM
MEANWHILE GARDENS, W10 5BN
There’ll be music on the main stage from noon until 6pm organised by the Joe Strummer Foundation with speakers sharing their wisdom on the art of growing in the city, huge seedling giveaways, the mighty Karimah’s Cuisina getting raw in the festival kitchen and workshops on container growing, composting and seed planting, as well as clay modelling, story telling and games for the kids.
Farmer’s markets are popping up more and more in London, this year we’d like to take it a step further and host our first all-London farmers’ market where everything on sale is produced within London’s limits. To do that, we need to hear from local growers – so if you’re growing food, or thinking about it, get in touch!
We’re always interested to hear from entertainers and workshop hosts with fun food/farming related shows, so drop us a line if you have something you’d like to share, great or small.
Farm the City London Festival 2012 was pleased to welcome a wealth of musical talent, the author of Rasta Mouse, live cooking demonstrations by Karimah Cuisina and Suppers From Scratch, growing workshops from Farm:SHOP, The Sky garden, WasteWatch, films from Hackney City Farm’s black cab, and many more games and workshops besides. The first Farm the City London festival was held in Meanwhile Gardens, Saturday, 16 June 2012.
Big thanks go to all those who came and helped to create a fun, food fuelled day! Here’s a run down of the organisations involved with extra thanks going to the team of volunteers who helped decorate and clean up the site afterwards, you know who you are and you rock!
